NEW COVENANT HAPPENINGS... Look out 2011!

Happy New Year to you! It's been forever and a day since I was able to blog post for New Covenant. 2011 is all a-buzz with happenings... a church-wide re-launch, spring softball, a more kid-friendly room for children's church... whew! the Lord is definitely at work here in New Covenant, just last Sunday we were blessed to witness one of our children saved and brought to Jesus. How gratifying to know this child of God has a light for his path at such an early age!

Just a reminder to all our members and non-members alike... Spring Co-Ed Softball will be organizing within the next month or so; if you are interested, please call the church office so we can get you a shirt and a team.

Also, if you would like to serve within the church in ANY capacity, please contact Pastor Britt, or myself and we can plug you in. There is such a need within the church for those who can serve.

I thank you for following New Covenant's blog post, but most importantly, following God. Remember He loves us!!!!

What Message?

THIS WEEK'S KIDMO...

I have a super friend (let's call him Ernie) who said to me today; "the Lord gave me a message for you a week ago and I meant to give it to you on Wednesday night last week, but I forgot, and I meant to give it to you on Sunday, and I forgot again, but today I remembered to tell you He is pleased you are an eager servant.

Ernie felt really bad he hadn't passed along the Lord's message to me until a week later. What Ernie DIDN'T know is last week my ears didn't need that message, nor did I need it Sunday... but today... TODAY the enemy pulled at me, hid my eagerness for serving, and filled me with a sense of tiredness and 'duty' instead of an eagerness to serve. What Ernie didn't know is TODAY I needed the message he 'forgot' to give me.

I don't think Ernie 'forgot' a thing. I think the Lord knew Ernie needed to bide his time until the message was needed.

Today, I was tested. Today, I recieved a message to place my faith and eagerness to serve back into perspective.

Thanks Ernie, I'm glad you 'forgot'. Keep delivering your messages...

"This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." 1JOHN 1:5

Fox Chase Village Outreach Ministry - a HUGE success!

On Saturday, August 22, along with Hispanic Missions Church in Pamlico and New Bern Church of God, New Covenant Church passed out school supplies to the Fox Chase Village community school-age children. It was a great pleasure to see the local kids eager to get their supply list completed and fill their backpacks. Several children asked for bibles as well, and we shared some wonderful fellowship and the love of the Lord. Our next outreach is scheduled for October 31, and we hope to see you there!

This week's KIDMO kids...

This past week I taught the Kidmo Kids about maps. They are everywhere... Google, Yahoo, Rand McNally, Mapquest, and so on. We discussed the importance of knowing where you're going, and what you plan to do when you get there. What do you do when you get lost? Check the map! God's word is a map for our lives. It tells us what to do on the road of life, the most direct route to heaven, how to get there, what we can expect along the way and also what to expect once we reach the end of our journey.

As I reflect on the teachings that I bring to these great kids, it occurs to me that there are countless times in my life I have had no idea where I was going and I placed so much trust in myself, I chose not check the map. This act of self-reliance only led me down the bumpiest roads, so filled with pot-holes and washouts I thought I may never reach my destination. It's amazing that once you reach out to God's word and find your compass points, how clearly marked the roads and landmarks are.

As I told the kids, the bible is a map for our lives. It tells us where we've been, where we're going and how to get there. The only fuel we need for the trip is the love of Christ and a huge passenger seat for anyone who wants to share the ride. The bible is our map, Jesus' love for us lights the way. My plan is to check the map every chance I get, and to enjoy the trip.

God is good...

Psalm 119:105
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."

KIDMO! is held every Wednesday at 7pm for our kids 5yrs. to 5th grade. For more information, contact Christine Zelazo at czelazo@suddenlink.net.

Foxchase Outreach Ministry

Saturday July 11th we began a new relationship with a community right down the road from the church. A community that needs compassion and a helping hand. We started by feeding them food and then continued by feeding them the word of God. The kids loved spending time with Bryce and Jeremy with the pinata's, having their face painted by Christine. Amanda served Snow Cones, Alethea served them hamburgers and hotdogs. These were just a few of the key people that helped start a bond between New Covenant and the community of Fox Chase. Next month we will be supplying some of the kids with materials to get back to school. Please help us to make a difference in the lives of others.
